Profile

  City of Burnaby

Burnaby is situated betweeen the cities of Vancouver to the west and north, and the cities of New Westminster and Coquitlam to the east. Burnaby has a population of 180,000 people, and covers an area of 37 square miles.

The following information was gathered from the City of Burnaby Official Community Plan and the City of Burnaby home page.

The Vision

The future growth of Burnaby is concentrated around four major town centres: Brentwood, Lougheed, Edmonds and Metrotown. Smaller nodes or "Urban Villages" will act as smaller-scale, local focal points around these town centres. The goal of these town centres is to create complete compact communities to accommodate a mix of uses and densities.

Burnaby Heights Virtual Business District -- an online resource

The Burnaby Heights area is located on the northern side of the City of Burnaby. This commercial strip has been recently enhanced with the addition of streetlamps, benches and garbage bins designed around a marina theme, in keeping with the history of the neighbourhood.
