Profile

  City of Coquitlam

Coquitlam is strategically located at the geographic centre of the Lower Mainland, making the City an attractive place for residents, industries and a thriving retail sector. Coquitlam is bordered by the municipalities of Port Moody, Port Coquitlam, Burnaby and New Westminster, as well as the Fraser River to the south, Pitt River to the east and the Coastal Mountains to the north. While experiencing rapid growth, Coquitlam has sought to achieve a balance by developing appealing neighbourhoods and vital commercial and industrial areas supported by parks and green space and needed services (City of Coquitlam).

The following information is extracted from the revitalization documents obtained from the City of Coquitlam. Italicized passages are direct quotes.

The City of Coquitlam has developed revitalization strategies for two main areas in the municipality, Austin Heights and downtown Maillardville.

With the help of external consultants, concept plans and designs
were produced to aid the revitalization process and set a vision for these areas.

    • Maillardville Downtown Revitalization - 1998
    • Austin Heights Revitalization Concept - 1991
