Profile

  District of Logan Lake
The District of Logan Lake is located on the Thompson Plateau between Kamloops and Merritt, west of Lac Le Jeune. With a current population of over 2,400 Logan Lake established itself as an industrial district with a unique 1970's town centre commercial design. The main area of the district is centred around Meadow Lake Road, which includes the downtown, tourist information, Maggs Park, Logan Lake and the campground at the end of the lake.

Previous Revitalization Strategies

Several documents have been printed concerning Logan Lake's revitalization strategies. The first project was undertaken in partnership with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs. This project enhanced the commercial centre (including the streetscape to Logan Lake) as well as the underlying philosophy of the Municipality's commercial and business district.

Improvements were made to this industrial community. "Changes in the setting design and visual presentation of the commercial core, initiated by District Council, and supported by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and most importantly the local business community, has acted to stimulate the service nature of the town's commercial centre." (Al Kemp, Mayor , 1996).

Logan Lake Chamber of Commerce

In 1996 the District of Logan Lake, along with L.A. West Associates, developed a Village Square Community Enhancement Project. This enhancement project outlined six phases, a key plan, a master plan and a preliminary cost estimate.

Current Revitalization Plans

Most recently, in May of 1999, the District of Logan Lake, again with L.A. West Associates, has launched the Millenium Lakefront Enhancement Project. This project focuses on small scale improvements to lakefront beautification and resident usability. Consisting of three phases this plan covers walkway lighting, a lake fountain, an interactive nature trail with kiosk and signage and the development of a public pier.
