The Action

Official Community Plan Overview - City of Richmond

Richmond has a fairly strong economy. Unlike other communities in BC that need economic development strategies for community revitalization, Richmond's community revitalization action is focusing on improving the livability and land use patterns in the city, making the downtown more pedestrian friendly and accessible.

This past spring Richmond has undergone a dramatic transformation along No. 3 Road. This transportation thoroughfare runs along the main section of Richmond, connecting the internal routes and providng access to most of Richmond's central services. New dedicated bus lanes were created along the centre of the roadway, boulevards were developed, trees and flowers and new pedestrian crosswalks have increased the transportation efficiency and overall livability of this central city route. For more information refer to the City of Richmond Transportation Plan.

Another initiatve by the City of Richmond is the Public Art Program.
