You may download this MS Word file and fill in each section, or retype the form, using the titles and subtitles on the form, in the order specified. Please address the questions and directions provided in italics. Delete all italicized text before submitting your grant application.

Your completed application will be six pages maximum, including a budget page. Foundation staff may ask applicants to revise applications that exceed the page limit.

IMPORTANT! Read this section before submitting your grant application.

  1. RESPONSIVE & CIT GRANTS - Submit one original hard copy and an e-mail version of your grant application. (Send it to info@realestatefoundation.com.) Do not bind your grant application (duo-tang, cerlox, etc.). Your careful presentation will be wasted and your application may be damaged when we remove pages from the binding to prepare our agenda packages.
  2. EEP & REAL ESTATE BOARD CPE/PDPGRANTS - Submit your grant application by e-mail to info@realestatefoundation.com. You must also send an original covering letter for the application signed by the chief board officer of your organization. If e-mailing is not possible, send one (original) application, printed on one side of the paper only.
  3. Applications should be accompanied by the applicant organization's most recent audited financial statements.
  4. Send one copy only of appendices, such as key letters of support, maps, etc.

A Word on Partnerships:
The Real Estate Foundation looks favourably on projects that involve all appropriate community and/or agency partners. Appropriate partnerships maximize the amount of community support, expertise, funding and in-kind support available to your project. Depending on the size and nature of your project, you might have several active partners, or just one or two. Ensure that you have at least one source of funding for your project other than the Foundation. The Foundation will rarely agree to be a project's sole funder.

Budget Tips

  • Grant applications for housing construction projects must use our standard budget format. Please submit a budget form that includes all line items that appear on the template, in the order in which they appear. Download a Microsoft Excel 97 version here.
  • There is not a standard budget format for renovation projects. However, we expect that applicants will itemize all costs, and be prepared to provide copies of job quotations.
  • Habitat for Humanity projects may be eligible for grants up to a maximum of 15% of the capital costs. Please use the standard budget form (MS Excel link above).

Freedom of Information & Privacy Policy
The Real Estate Foundation has policy and procedures regarding its compliance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Please note the following (from "Statements of Policy", section 5.8):

"Although the Foundation may place conditions on funding--including conditions that information may have to be published--and closely monitor how funds are used, the projects funded are considered by the Foundation to be independent projects managed and controlled by applicant organizations.

Any personal or other information collected, used and disclosed by the applicant organization during the project therefore is considered by the Foundation to be information that is in the custody of and controlled by the applicant organization rather than the Foundation. The applicant organization therefore is responsible for that information and must, in most cases, comply with private sector personal information protection laws rather than the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act that governs the Foundation's collection, use and disclosure of information."
