Letter
of Inquiry
A letter of inquiry is the way
you introduce the Real Estate Foundation to your non-profit organization's
proposed project. The letter should be no more than three
pages long (8 1/2 x 11"), and include the following:
- short introduction to your organization (*must be a non-profit organization)
- brief statement of the problem
or issue your project will address
- concise description of the activities
your organization proposes to undertake
- purpose(s) of the Foundation
that the project will address: public education, professional
education, research, law reform, good works
- relationship of project to real
estate and/or land use
- project start-up and completion
dates
- project budget identifying confirmed
and potential revenue sources, and itemized expenditures (as
accurate as possible). Note that the Foundation expects that you will secure at least one other source of cash support for the project. * Your LOI must include a budget. If there is no budget, the inquiry will not be considered.
- amount to be requested from
the Real Estate Foundation
NEW - As of mid-April 2008, the Foundation will respond to letters of inquiry (LOI) quarterly. However, we will continue to receive LOIs on an ongoing basis. We encourage you to inquire early, especially if your project is time-sensitive. Staff will respond to letters of inquiry within two weeks after an LOI deadline. Applicant organizations that are invited to submit a formal grant application will be advised of the application deadline at the time of invitation.
2008 LOI Deadlines:
- June 9
- September 8
- December 8 (for first grants meeting of 2009)
Send only one copy of
your letter. If you e-mail your LOI, send it to info@realestatefoundation.com. Do not send it by various means (e-mail, fax and
mail) to ensure that we receive it. Do not send your e-mail inquiry
to more than one staff person. Once is enough.
