Mission
& Strategy
The purposes of the Real Estate
Foundation are set out under the Real Estate Act. They
are:
"to undertake and carry
out real estate public and professional education, real estate
law reform, real estate research, and other real estate related
good works"
The fulfillment of these purposes
is subject to guidelines established by the Foundation Governors.
In March 2004 the Real Estate
Foundation Board of Governors revised the mission statement to
better reflect the Foundation's goals and activities. The Governors
also approved new strategies for the Foundation to achieve its
legislated mandate and mission.
Mission The Real Estate Foundation's mission
is to support sustainable real estate and land use practices
for the benefit of British Columbians.
Strategies
- Real Estate Industry Funding
Agreements
The Foundation supports education, research, and law and policy
reform activities of the British Columbia Real Estate Association,
the Real Estate Council of British Columbia, and the Real Estate
Institute of British Columbia.
- Planning for Community Transition
in Non-Metropolitan Regions: A Partnership Initiative
The Foundation has a "signature program" that targets
agencies and practitioners which play a role in shaping the land
use future of local communities experiencing or planning for
change.
- Responsive Grants
The Foundation will support non-profit initiatives that aim to
fulfill its legislated mandate and mission, and which meet certain
effectiveness criteria. Responsive grants include the Public
& Professional Education Events Program (EEP), under
which the Foundation will consider grant applications for education
events--including workshops, seminars, conferences, symposia,
charrettes, etc.--related to real estate and land use issues
and practices.
The Foundation also offers, in
partnership with Vancity Credit Union, the Green
Building Grant Program.
