The Land Centre: Land Use and Real Estate Information @ Your Fingertips

Now in its fourth year of operation, the Land Centre has proven itself to be a valuable source of current information on land use topics. More than 100 individuals use the centre's services daily, and staff are busy developing new services for 1999.

"Our major improvement will be members' profile pages," says Philip Hall, Administrator. "These will allow members to build their own web library on subjects of special interest to them. The library will be automatically updated. The profile page will replace the subject alerts we now send out by E-mail. The page will allow users to specify a permanent hot list of individual items from the Land Centre database."

Other projects Hall and staff are working on include a housing information library for BC Housing's southern region and neighbourhood profiles for the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver.

"At the end of year three, we reached a turning point," says Hall. "We're now offering mature services to a rapidly growing list of clients and members. The Land Centre is becoming recognized as a leader in the dissemination of land use information."
